Mission

Manufuture mission is to propose, develop and implement a strategy based on Research and Innovation, capable of speeding up the rate of industrial transformation to high-added-value products, processes and services, securing high-skills employment and winning a major share of world Manufacturing output in the future knowledge-driven economy.

  Role

To govern research, technological development and innovation (RTDI) efforts aimed at the transformation of the European manufacturing industry at two levels: 

A policy level aimed at continuous development of the MANUFUTURE vision and promotion of the Lisbon objectives; and o An operational level employing a technological approach exploiting all possible synergies arising from the converging nature of science and technologies.  

The technological approach should begin by addressing common problems or bottlenecks faced by the sectoral platforms.

  Structure

The governance of the MANUFUTURE platform is ensured by the following structure: 

High Level Group - HLG
As the governing body of the Manufuture Platform, it sets-up the strategy related to maintaining European leadership in Manufacturing.
It has developed the Strategic Research Agenda (SRA).

Implementation Support Group - ISG
It coordinates all the work in the platform and provides the secretarial support.

Industrial Advisory Group - IAG
It oversees the strategic part of the SRA and Implementation plan and ensures its dissemination to industrial Stakeholders.

Mirror Group - MG
It should ensure the harmonisation of Manufacturing Research activities in Member States with those ones of the Manufuture Platform.

Working Groups - WGs
They have been established for the finalisation of the SRA.

National/Regional Manufuture initiative Group - NRTP
It aligns the European Manufuture Platform to the needs of the industry in the different regions and countries in Europe.

- To promote, at all political and public levels, a positive public image of manufacturing

- To strengthen cooperation with other ETPs

- To maximize innovation and economic results, ensuring effective FP7 execution

- To implement the strategy for international networking and cooperation
